Five minutes under a light buys you twenty to thirty minutes of dusk fetch.
Winter in the Boland means the dog gets walked in the dark. This ball charges under any bright light — a torch works — and Chuckit! publish the numbers plainly: five minutes of charging gives 20 to 30 minutes of glow. No batteries, nothing to replace.
Materials: photoluminescent rubber.
Launcher fit: Small is about 2 inches and takes an S launcher; Medium is about 2.5 inches and takes an M launcher — including the Classic 26M.
Chuckit! ask you to supervise play until you're sure your dog won't destroy the toy, and to replace any ball that develops rips, tears or cuts. Size matters more than anything else here: the ball should not fit completely inside her mouth. If it does, size up. These are fetch toys, not chew toys — Chuckit! publish no chew-strength rating for any of them. A dog who settles down to gnaw a ball rather than chase it should have a proper chew instead. To clean, hand wash in warm water with a soft brush and mild dish soap, then air dry fully. Petmate's own guidance is to avoid long soaks — they degrade rubber. Charge it before you leave rather than expecting it to hold light from the afternoon. And keep an eye on where it lands — a glowing ball is easy to find in a dark garden, which is rather the point, but only while it's still glowing.
