A 10-minute soak that takes on both bacterial and fungal skin trouble at once.
Dermcare Malaseb Medicated Shampoo is a specialised shampoo for cats and dogs, formulated to help manage skin conditions caused by bacteria, yeast, and fungi. It is effective in treating seborrhoeic dermatitis and controlling Staphylococcus and Malassezia pachydermatis infections. This gentle yet powerful formula cleanses the skin, removes excess oils, and relieves itching and irritation while supporting overall skin health. Malaseb is also recommended as part of the treatment regimen for ringworm in cats and dogs, helping to reduce environmental contamination and reinfection. Suitable for routine use as directed by a veterinarian, it promotes a healthier coat and more comfortable skin.
Used for: Dogs — seborrhoeic dermatitis associated with Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (bacterial) and/or Malassezia pachydermatis (yeast) infection. Cats — aid in treating/controlling dermatophytosis (ringworm, Microsporum canis), used alongside systemic antifungal therapy, not instead of it.
Active ingredients: Chlorhexidine gluconate 20 g/L (2%) + miconazole nitrate 20 g/L (2%).
The 10-minute contact time is not optional — it's most of what makes this work, and a quick in-and-out wash won't do much. Stay with your dog or cat for those 10 minutes so they're not licking the lather off. Ringworm treatment runs 8 to 12 weeks alongside whatever your vet has prescribed systemically — the shampoo supports that treatment, it doesn't replace it. Directions: Wet thoroughly with clean water. Apply shampoo at several points and massage into the coat. Leave in contact for 10 minutes — don't leave the animal unattended, since licking or inhaling the foam can irritate the gut or airways. Approximate volume: 1.5 mL per kg bodyweight (roughly 50 mL for a 35 kg dog with a medium coat; roughly 10 mL for an adult cat). Use twice weekly. Duration: General seborrhoeic dermatitis — minimum 3 weeks. Ringworm — twice weekly alongside systemic treatment for 8–12 weeks.
