A 40 kg dog puts roughly twice the load through each joint that a 20 kg dog does, on the same walk, every day. Glucosamine here is 490 mg/kg against the medium-breed food's 290 — which is the number that reflects it.
Protein at 23% with 13% fat suits a large frame without adding weight the joints then have to carry. Pentasodium triphosphate is in the mineral mix for tartar, and DHA runs at 0.06%, the highest of any Eukanuba adult food here.

Looking after it
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Weigh her food rather than scooping. Keep her lean — on a big dog every extra kilo lands on hips that will need them later. Split across two meals, never one; a deep-chested dog fed a single large meal is a bloat risk. Learn the signs of bloat — a swollen hard belly, retching without producing anything, restlessness — and treat them as an emergency.
