Large breeds age early: six is genuinely middle-aged for a 40 kg dog, the equivalent of a small dog at nine or ten. Fat here comes down to 10%, the lowest in the entire Eukanuba range.
Protein stays at 26% to hold muscle on a frame that loses it readily, with glucosamine at 495 mg/kg for hips that have carried a lot. Fibre is the highest in the range at 2%, which helps a slower gut.

Looking after it
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Weigh her food rather than scooping. Keep her lean — on a big dog every extra kilo lands on hips that will need them later. Split across two meals, never one; a deep-chested dog fed a single large meal is a bloat risk. Swimming is excellent for an older large dog if you have access to it — all the exercise, none of the impact. A raised bed off a cold floor makes a visible difference.
