On a large breed, spare weight isn't cosmetic. A 40 kg dog carrying five extra kilos is loading hips and elbows that were already the first thing likely to fail, and the maths gets worse every year.
This does the two jobs that matter for a big dog at once. Clinically proven weight-management nutrition drops the calories while 14.5% fibre keeps him satisfied and 28.1% protein keeps muscle on a frame that needs it for support. EPA from fish oil at 1.9% inclusion targets joint comfort directly, and glucosamine and chondroitin from crustacean shell and pork cartilage feed the cartilage itself. For large breeds over a year old who are prone to weight gain — which is most of the retrievers, shepherds and crosses that come through the shop.

Looking after it
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Feed to target weight and weigh him monthly — on a big dog, a kilo either way is easy to miss by eye. Split the daily amount across two meals; large deep-chested breeds shouldn't eat one big meal a day because of bloat risk. Joint benefits build over six to eight weeks. Fresh water, always.
