Medium breeds are where excess weight does the most damage the fastest — heavy enough to load the joints properly, active enough to keep asking them to work.
This handles both ends at once. Clinically proven weight-management nutrition brings the calories down while 14.5% fibre from pea bran and cellulose keeps him feeling fed, and protein at 28.1% protects the lean muscle that a crash diet would strip. Alongside it, EPA-rich fish oil at 1.9% inclusion works on joint comfort, with glucosamine and chondroitin from crustacean shell and pork cartilage supplying what cartilage is actually made of. Coconut oil, flaxseed and dried carrots fill out the recipe. For medium breeds over a year old who are heavier than they should be — which, on the current numbers, is most of them.

Looking after it
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. A 12 kg bag lasts a long time on reduced rations — decant a week at a time and keep the rest sealed and cool. Feed to target weight, weigh him fortnightly, and aim for slow loss. Joint benefits show at around two months. Treats count. Fresh water, always.
