Gets a big older dog off his bed and back into the garden.
Large breeds age early. A Labrador is a senior at six in a way a Jack Russell simply isn't, and the joints usually go before anything else does.
This is built for that specific decline. Glucosamine at 480 ppm and chondroitin sulphate at 637 ppm — the highest in the Senior Vitality line — feed the cartilage that a big frame has been grinding down for years, and they come from real sources: pork cartilage and crustacean shell rather than a synthetic top-dressing. Around that sits Hill's vitality blend, aimed at brain function, energy and the willingness to get involved that quietly fades in an older dog. Omega-3 and omega-6 keep the coat from going harsh, L-carnitine helps him burn fat rather than carry it, and the whole recipe is built on easily digestible ingredients because tolerance narrows with age. Protein is moderate at 21.7% and fat controlled at 13.2%, which is right for a big dog who isn't moving like he used to.
Maize, brewers' rice (24%), chicken (8%) and turkey meal (total poultry 13%), barley, oats, digest, dried whole egg, soybean oil, animal fat, flaxseed, minerals, dried beet pulp, dried carrots, dried tomato pomace, dried citrus pulp, fish oil, dried spinach, vitamins, trace elements, pork cartilage (source of chondroitin sulphate), crustacean shell hydrolysate (source of glucosamine) and beta-carotene. With a natural antioxidant (mixed tocopherols).
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. A 14 kg bag is a lot of food — decant what you need for the week and keep the rest sealed and out of the sun; fat goes rancid faster than most people expect. Joint supplements take six to eight weeks to show, so give it a proper run before judging. If he's stiff getting up but loosens off after a few minutes, that's worth a vet conversation as well as a food change. Fresh water, always.

A guide, not a rule — split it across two meals and adjust to condition. Large breeds should be fed twice daily rather than once; a single big meal raises bloat risk in deep-chested dogs. Take a week to change over. Fresh water, always.
