A dull coat is usually a skin problem wearing a disguise.
A coat that's gone dull, dry or flaky is rarely about the hair. It's the skin underneath — the barrier that holds moisture in and keeps irritants out has thinned, and the coat is just the visible symptom. Feed the skin and the coat follows, usually within six to eight weeks, which is roughly one growth cycle.
Omega-6 fatty acids run at 5.2% here — the highest in the range — with omega-3 at 1%, both of which the skin barrier is built from and neither of which a cat can make herself. Fat at 22% carries them. Borage oil adds gamma-linolenic acid, and specific amino acids support the keratin that hair is made of. High-quality proteins with a targeted vitamin and mineral blend do the rest. For adult cats, and particularly for indoor cats, who tend to have drier skin than cats with a garden.
Dehydrated poultry protein, maize, vegetable protein isolate (L.I.P. — protein selected for its very high digestibility), rice, wheat, animal fats, hydrolysed animal proteins, maize gluten, beet pulp, soya oil, fish oil, minerals, borage oil, fructo-oligosaccharides, psyllium husks and seeds, marigold extract (source of lutein).
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening — fats oxidise, and a food built around fatty acids goes off faster than most. Give it six to eight weeks before judging; that's a full coat cycle and you won't see much before then. Brush her regularly to spread the natural oils. If she's scratching, over-grooming or losing hair in patches, that's a vet visit rather than a food change — this supports healthy skin, it doesn't treat allergies or parasites. Fresh water, always.
