Seven isn't old for a cat, but it's the point where the margins narrow — kidneys start working harder, muscle gets fractionally harder to hold, and appetite becomes less reliable.
This is the Instinctive recipe adjusted for that stage rather than a full senior diet. It keeps the palatability that gets a cat to the bowl, which matters more as appetite becomes changeable, and the mineral balance is set with ageing urinary function in mind. Tender chunks in gravy suit teeth that have done seven years of work, and the moisture is genuinely useful — older cats drink less at exactly the point they need more. A sensible move at seven, before anything is obviously wrong.
Meat and animal derivatives, fish and fish derivatives, vegetable protein extracts, cereals, derivatives of vegetable origin, minerals, yeasts.
Serve at room temperature. Cover and refrigerate leftovers and use within 24 hours. From seven, an annual vet check is worth doing even if nothing seems wrong — kidney and thyroid changes are common, silent early, and much easier to manage when caught. Weight loss is not something to feed through. Fresh water, always.
