A medium dog under stress is easier to miss than a small one. She won't shake in your lap; she'll go quiet, stop eating, pace at night, or produce a fortnight of loose stools with no other explanation. Thunderstorms, fireworks, a house move or a change in who's home during the day are the usual triggers.
Hydrolysed fish protein is the working ingredient — a milk-and-fish-derived peptide with published evidence behind it for reducing anxious behaviour, and it's why this food exists rather than being an ordinary one with calming claims. Alongside it, a moderate energy level suits a dog who isn't burning much off, and highly digestible proteins with beet pulp settle a gut that anxiety upsets. It is not a sedative and it is not a substitute for dealing with the cause. It gives you a calmer starting point to work from.

Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Start it three to four weeks before something you know is coming — a move, a holiday, Guy Fawkes — rather than on the day. Give her somewhere enclosed to retreat to and don't force her out of it. If stress is showing up as loose stools that don't settle within a fortnight, see your vet; it isn't always behavioural.
