After the op, the appetite stays. The energy need drops.
Sterilisation drops a cat's energy requirement by roughly thirty percent almost overnight. The appetite doesn't get the memo. That gap is why so many cats gain weight in the year after the op, and it's the whole reason this food exists.
Fat is held to 12% and the calorie level is set deliberately low, while protein runs high at 37% — the point being that she loses fat, not muscle. L-carnitine at 100 mg/kg helps her metabolise fat rather than store it, and added ammonium chloride acidifies the urine, which is how the formula works against struvite crystals. A balanced mineral content supports urinary tract health, which matters more after sterilisation, and highly digestible proteins with psyllium and fructo-oligosaccharides look after digestion. For sterilised cats from one to seven years.
Dehydrated poultry protein, maize, vegetable protein isolate (L.I.P. — protein selected for its very high digestibility), vegetable fibres, animal fats, hydrolysed animal proteins, rice, wheat, beet pulp, maize gluten, yeasts and parts thereof, minerals, fish oil, fructo-oligo-saccharides, soya oil. Additives (per kg) — Nutritional additives: Vitamin A 19,000 IU · Vitamin D3 1,000 IU · E1 (Iron) 31 mg · E2 (Iodine) 3.1 mg · E4 (Copper) 10 mg · E5 (Manganese) 41 mg · E6 (Zinc) 122 mg · E8 (Selenium) 0.05 mg · L-carnitine 100 mg. Technological additives: Clinoptilolite of sedimentary origin 10 g. Zootechnical additives: Ammonium chloride 5 g. Preservatives. Antioxidants.
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Move her onto this within a week or two of the operation rather than waiting for the weight to arrive — it's much easier to prevent than to reverse. Measure every meal; a sterilised cat on free-feeding will eat past what she needs. Encourage play. Fresh water, always, and watch for any straining in the litter tray.
